What is Phishing and How Can You Avoid It?

Whether it's online banking, social networks, or sales platforms – phishing is unfortunately everywhere. Here you'll find a simple explanation of what phishing is, how these scams usually work, and how you can protect yourself – including on Orsetto.

What is phishing?

Phishing refers to attempts to obtain personal data – such as passwords, credit card details, or ID copies – through fake messages. These messages often look deceptively real and appear to come from official sources, but they do not.

How does a typical phishing attempt work?

• After a sale, someone contacts you directly, often via WhatsApp.
• They claim that verification is required before the payment can be released.
• Shortly afterwards, you receive an email that looks official but is not from us.
• This email contains a link or asks you to share sensitive data.
• Even logos, legal notices, and "correct" wording can be used to trick you.
